I've finally finished the authentication part of the system. Well almost! There are some open gaps waiting for a decision to be made. I still have to discuss with the team what they think it's best: to have users login with an username, email, both? and what are the pros&cons of each option. Besides that everything is working: * User login and authentication * User Registering with account activation * Password Recovery * Users follow an ACL system. * System allows the usage of openID account. That's everything of now. 2007/7/3, Bruno Santos <bmfs@eksperimental.net>:
Hi,

I was talking with Thomas (thos) about the user login and he complain that he didn't like to use his username to login, because most of the times he didn't even remember what was the username. So he would prefer to user the email as login.
So wanted to know your opinion about this subject.

Definitively a good idea. We have enough confusion between live.gnome.org, bugzilla, et al. Email should be enough for login, and if password is requested, it's easier to the user know in which inbox should he look in.

Should users be let to login with username, email, both?
I don't mind to set the system to allow both.
But with that comes another comes another thought. I think user should always choose an username, and that they can't change it ever. The username is their alias in the system. It's the identifier that users associate with the work.

What do you think?

Email+password should be enough for everyone. Let's keep it simple.

Regards,

Bruno Santos

Besides that everything is working: * User login and authentication * User Registering with account activation * Password Recovery * Users follow an ACL system. * System allows the usage of openID account.

I still have to discuss with the team what they think it's best: to have users login with an username, email, both? and what are the pros&cons of each option. Besides that everything is working: * User login and authentication * User Registering with account activation * Password Recovery * Users follow an ACL system. * System allows the usage of openID account.

Bruno, have you an idea about = these things about version control system
      in = ago3?

Like we talked about, If = you user wants to change a submission he made , if it wasn't approved = yet, he can always change it. After beeing approved he won't be able to = change the download file. If he wants, he can submit a new version of = the theme which will=A0proceed the normal route of an artwork = (moderation).

My idea was = originally to keep themes with mark "Tested" separately as
snapsots. (means, when you got "tested" you can edit = theme as work copy
only and then update =3D=3D = ask for new modified theme testing).
