compiling 1.3.4 on suse 7.3

i get:
libtool: link: cannot find the library `/opt/gnome/lib/libORBit.la'

ive got orbit and orbit-devel installed. libORBit.la simply doesnt 
exist, and doesnt exist in ANY suse 7.3 package, i grepped the whole
of the distro archives.

on the orbit mailing list somebody said something about this file being 
pointless...?

any ideas? ways to get around it?
