I consider this a curiosity, not a real problem. In the (threaded) message list, it shows a subject of "reports" which I do see as the "Subject: " when looking at the headers in the source of the message. However, in the main message display header area, the Subject: says "(No subject)" even if I show all headers. The last few lines of headers are:

Mime-Version: 1.0 (Mac OS X Mail 11.5 \(3445.9.1\))
Subject: reports
Message-Id: <removed comcast net>
Date: Sun, 3 Mar 2019 14:00:31 -0500

X-Mailer: Apple Mail (2.3445.9.1)
Status: RO
X-Status:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

This is a single part message, text only, no html or attachments. I've got plenty of other messages from the same sender which properly display the subject.

Any idea what's going on?

Jack

That certainly is strange! Is that message in an IMAP folder? If so, running Balsa with the environment variable G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=libnetclient might give some insight.

Even stranger - that message (still in my inbox [mbox]) now displays correctly, with "report" for the subject in both the message list and header area. Even double stranger - I have replied to that message twice. The second reply (moved from my sent folder to inbox) looks absolutely normal, and threaded correctly under the original. The first reply (also moved from sent folder to inbox) has an actual Subject: of "Re: No subject" in the actual Subject: header, and no in response to header.

I think it's best to chalk this up to phase of the moon, since it does not seem persistent, much less reproducible.

Separately, I've had a few more crashes when hitting "Expunge" on my inbox, but have not yet managed to catch one in gdb to get a backtrace.
