Hi Garvit,

Depending on what version yo= u are building on, there would be a number of extensions not currently buil= ding correctly, mainly due to the transition to GTK3 as far as I understand= .

Before creating your extension, make sure you can build= the full Banshee-Community-Extension. Disable any extension which do not b= uild by using parameters on the ./autogen.sh such as:

./autogen.sh --disable-streamrecorder --disable-karaoke [...]

And what format is Banshee set up to sync? If a device doesn't support a format then Banshee will re-encode it on the fly as it syncs, and I *think* that normally wasn't aware of whether the file was the same track because of the re-encoding and so synced it again anyway. It should normally tell you if it is transcoding/re-encoding tracks. On 08/02/14 13:20, EricC wrote: > I use Banshee on Ubuntu to sync my music with my Android phone, but I'm > having a problem. But one thing I find very strange, and I know I am not the only one who wants this feature. Why is there no way to sort the album grid by Album Artist as the primary sorting and then Albums sub sorted. This is how most media players do it by default and it is the most logical way to do it. It is this way anyone with a big collection of physical CD's og LP's would sort their music. It is how MusicBee, MediaMonkey, iTunes and many more does it. It should also be fairly simple to make this option available. I have read around the internet and people have been ranting about this probably since 2009 (or longer?). That's four years. I think you should really prioritize this. Is this feature to come at all or should I just forget Banshee? -- View this message in context: http://banshee-media-player.2283330.n4.nabble.com/Album-Artist-Sorting-in-grid-tp4651510.html Sent from the Banshee Media Player mailing list archive at Nabble.com. Is there anyway to make > sure this doesn't ever happen again? I lost ratings on hundreds of songs! The only way to make sure this doesn't happen again is file a bug so we the developers can fix it. Please go to http://banshee.fm/contribute/file-bugs/ There's also a "workaround" to prevent this: inject the ratings into the file themselves. This way your ratings are not only on your Banshee DB but inside them. You can enable this feature in the banshee preferences, it's called "Sync ratings between library and files". Release notes: http://banshee.fm/download/archives/2-6-2/ Source: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/banshee/2.6/banshee-2.6.2.tar.xz Download: http://banshee.fm/download/ (Binaries for non-Linux platforms will likely be uploaded in the following days) Note to packagers: We have noticed that the 'note to packagers' we published for 2.6.1 version was sadly overlooked by some distros, so we repeat it here again (please fix it for 2.6.2 at least, if you have the chance): "We had to add the requirement of a new build dependency on dbus-glib (or rather its development package, if there is one), as a work-around to a problem with GConf and DBus (this requirement will likely be removed again in the first release of the new development series leading up to Banshee 3.0)." My build of Banshee is based on the GNOME:Apps version of Banshee, which is normally quite up to date, with my patches on top. In fact, they've already updates: * Package on OBS: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?project=GNOME%3AApps&package=banshee * 1-click install for openSUSE 13.1: http://software.opensuse.org/ymp/GNOME:Apps/openSUSE_13.1/banshee.ymp?base=openSUSE%3A13.1&query=banshee Also, looking at the Software Search then openSUSE 13.1 already had 2.6.1 available as core. I'm guessing that Rusty is on 12.3 if he has 2.6.0 as the latest. The problem you're experiencing has already been reported by other users in our bug tracking system (I recommend you to look for problems in it in the future: bugzilla.gnome.org): https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=722551 But if you look inside you will notice that: - The bug is already fixed, you just need to upgrade to a new version. - The bug was actually not inside Banshee, so what you need to upgrade is a library that Banshee uses, called SoundTouch (libsoundtouch0, the package name). I contacted Last.FM as I thought it was a website issue, but they said since it was a 3rd party scrobbler..they couldn't help me :( It stopped work on Jan 30th...Dunno why... I have purged Banshee and removed all files, re-installed Banshee and re-enabled Last.Fm Song reporting. The issue hasn't gone away sadly. Ubuntu 12.04LTS & Banshee 2.6.1 Any Ideas?
