That's a curious argument, given that sqlheavy is *written* in Vala. ;-) But I'd be interested what makes libgda worth looking into, and what it may provide over sqlheavy. http://www.gnome-db.org/ http://live.gnome.org/ChooseLibgdaSQLite From a quick look, libgda can support other databases, XML, threaded access, meta data and GUI. Does it have any search capabilities? It's not mentioned there. And it says it's impossible to access the underlying database API. ciao, Christian -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Unlike SQLHeavy, libgda is intended to hide the database engine from the user, allowing an application to work with any flavor of data store. That's not really important to Geary; we see little to no chance that we'll switch away from SQLite any time soon. (We also use SQLite with Shotwell and have had good experiences with it.) Also, we foresee the need to directly work with SQLite (in particular, for fast full-text search, which may involve installing C-based callbacks). We can't do that with libgda. Thanks for the suggestion. -- Jim 2012/4/10 Javier Jard?n > Hello, > > I was taking a look to this project and I wonder if you consider to > use libgda instead sqlheavy? > libgda has vala bindings nowadays thanks to gobject introspection. > > Regards > > -- > Javier Jard?n Cabezas > _______________________________________________ > Geary mailing list > Geary at lists.yorba.org > http://lists.yorba.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/geary > -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I'd like to get some community input on those. A brief discussion of the "Pony Express" theme on this page might also be appropriate for the non-US crowd.
