I believe that would point to missing GIRs. It sounds like vala doesn't know they are. Make sure gir-repository is installed. I know it's difficult to tell just by looking at the .pot file, but the best thing you can do is pick a letter that is not being used by any other item in the menu or dialog. ?I know some times that's hard to figure out. ?Just do your best!
