Thanks for the fast reply! It is true, I use fixed widgets in some
preference dialogs. But other widgets are also affected. For instance
the toolbar buttons are displayed with text below the items, even though
I disabled this property.

Will this behavior of Glade be fixed in future releases? I will try the
newest version, announced today in the mailing list. If I have still
difficulties I can send you a sample Glade file next week.

To be frank, I never paid much attention to how widgets react
and behave in the workspace - so long as you can edit the UI.

This seems to have never been a problem until now, so yes - I
will personally take care of looking at it for sure, to the
extent of at least making it more usable - except I dont know
how long it will take me.

Cheers,

PS:
If someone were to make a project of making widgets look
and behave better in the UI I have no objections, we also
still lack a proper preview feature...

I think he may be using fixed widgets -- glade 3.6.2 (at least)
doesn't properly display them. ?They will render fine in the end,
though. Just difficult to edit them.

Yes its supposed to be future proof, 3.6 should also allow you to
convert it and save it in GtkBuilder format, which should also just
work in the future.

We are at 3.6.3 now and I need to release a 3.6.4 soon, could be
that you ran into a bug in the earlier releases, Id need to see a
sample glade file to try and reproduce it...

Hi,

I am working at a small software project, using Glade to define the
user
interface. Everything was great until I updated my operating system
(Ubuntu) from 8.10 (Intrepid) to 9.04 (Jaunty).

Now I have problems with the newer version of Glade (3.6.1) which is
included in Jaunty. Intrepid includes version 3.4.5. I can open the
xml
file, but my user interface is barely recognizable: notepads are
broken,
widgets have wrong properties...

However, when I load the xml file in my application, the ui looks
fine.
How is this possible?

I also tried to compile the old version 3.4.5 in Jaunty. The result
is
even worse: I can load the xml file but the ui is only garbage. So
I had
to install Intrepid in a virtual machine to edit my glade files. :(

Is there a way to migrate projects to the new version? Is this a
bug? It
was my understanding that the glade xml format is future proof.

Thanks and regards, Thomas
