Patches?

As far as the MySQL provider, I'm starting to look at making some changes
to the code on my machine, however, to whom should I send patches? Also, a
question about defaults:  in the mysql provider, if you don't provide a
port and don't provide a socket to connect with, should the program try the
defaults (port 3306, socket /var/lib/mysql.sock, /tmp/mysql.sock) or should
it error out? Thanks.
