Ten Years of Team Leadership

Ten years ago today, our once and future king John Fleck appointed me
the new leader of the GNOME documentation team:

https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-doc-list/2003-September/msg00043.html

It's been an adventurous ten years. For a long while, we had almost no
team, and our documentation was terribly out of date. But we picked
ourselves up, and we reinvented our team and what we do. Thanks to Phil,
Jim, Paul, and Milo for being there. I don't think we'd be where we are
today if it weren't for your hard work.

That was five years ago. Today we have a very active team that gets an
amazing amount of work done. We have a friendly and welcoming community.
Our developers are move active in documentation than ever before. And we
are in many ways on the cutting edge of what's happening in the tech
comm industry. I'm proud of where our team is today. I'm proud of all of
you for getting us there.

Ten years is long enough. It's time I stepped back and let somebody else
take charge. I'm not leaving. I'll continue to be an active member of
the community, and I'll continue to develop the tools. We need somebody
with the time and energy to coach new contributors, to keep track of
what everybody is doing, and to be active with the broader GNOME
community.

I believe that person is Ekaterina Gerasimova. She's already doing all
these things and more. She understands our team and how to get stuff
done. And she's just an awesome person to be around. Thanks Kat for all
your hard work, and for agreeing to take on this role.

Ten years ago, John said this:

Serving as GDP Fearless Leader has been a hoot.
    Thanks for the privilege.

I couldn't have put it better myself.

Thanks,
Shaun
