dbopen error in gnome-libs install

[vacuum <vacuum technotronic com>]

After reading several other posts regarding gnome-libs compilation
problems,
I installed gettext (GNU gettext) 0.10.35 yet I still receive the
following error
What am I missing?

glib, gtk+, gtk-engines, and ORBit all compile fine. No problems with
the other
cvs modules that I use with Enlightenment etither. (esound, Imlib, etc)

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Slackware 3.5 based 2.0.36 kernel
