  While trying to compile it I get

make[2]: Entering directory `/home/nmrf/tmp/mc/vfs'
cd ../../../work/cvs-remoto/gnome-rel/mc/vfs/../vfs; ln -s
../../../work/cvs-remoto/gnome-rel/mc/vfs/../src/mad.c
../../../work/cvs-remoto/gnome-rel/mc/vfs/../src/mad.h . >/dev/null 2>&1;
true
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/nmrf/tmp/mc/vfs'
make mcservx
make[2]: Entering directory `/home/nmrf/tmp/mc/vfs'
make[2]: *** No rule to make target `mad.o', needed by `mcservx'. Stop.
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/nmrf/tmp/mc/vfs'
make[1]: *** [mcserv] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/nmrf/tmp/mc/vfs'
make: *** [all] Error 1

This is building with buildir != srcdir. Could it be the reason? Right now I
don't have the time to check the makefiles.
