tcd and/or gtcd: Strange behavior???

I'm trying to use either of the above progs with my SCSI cd-rom. Having
no luck though as both give me error messages, like no disk.  Everything
is fine with the drive, scsi -cdrom built into the kernel and of course
and can mount it fine and read off of it.  Just can't get these progs to
work the cd's.  Anyone know why this is so.?

Btw...everything is set up correct in /etc/fstab with the proper links
to the /dev devices.
