This is no problem.

This is your real problem. I assume you are running X at 8 bpp so imlib
requires a palette file.
I remember a packaging error installing the file to
/etc/imlib/im_palette.pal but referring to /etc/im/im_palette.pal (or vis
versa). Check it. You can edit the path to the palette file in
/etc/imlib/imrc (or /etc/im/imrc).

Another solution is to run X in 16 or 32 bpp. You can change the default
color depth either in /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers by appending -bpp 16 to the
Xserver command; Or you edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config by adding
   DefaultColorDepth 16
to the Section "Screen"
