Gnome 1.0.1 start up error

Hello,

   When i type startx at the shell prompt i get:

gnome-session: error in loading shared libraries
: undefined symbal: __register_frame_info

i'm not sure what that means if i'm missing a line in my ld.so.conf file or
i fegot to install a package witch i don't think so cause i checked to make
sure they where all installed, i am also starting x from my xinitrc file
instead of Xclients or .Xclients in the home directory not sure if that
could be a problem i have yet to try it the other way.
