gnome-libs-1.0.5 and gtk+1.2.1

Hi there,

Firstly, to update you on the previous problem I was having, namely that
gnome refused to start up, I've now done it by copying the
default.session file from /usr/local/whatever into ~/.gnome/session

Now the next bit. I d/led gnome-libs-1.0.5 and gtk/glib-1.2.1. I
compiled glib, then gtk+ and both installed fine. I did an ldconfig -v
and gtk-config --version reports 1.2.1. Fine.

Unfortunately configure in gnome-libs-1.0.5 says that gtk-config --
version reports 1.2.1 but gtk+1.2.0 was also found. It says should
remove the old gtk-1.2.0. How do I do this? I can't find any reference
to gtk-1.2.0 in /usr/local/* which is where it is installed to by
default.

I'm running a red hat 5.2 system with updates but have removed the gtk
rpms before compiling the new tarballs.

Help!
