wmaker+gnome=X crash

On occasion while using gnome in Windowmaker, elementary drag and drop
operations cause the whole X system to crash, putting me back to the
initial command line.

Never had this problem in Enlightenment, but Windowmaker is my preferred
window manager.

Is anyone aware of why this happens, or what remedial steps to take?
