updating default enlightenment/gnome on redhat 6.2?

some well placed &'s have done me well, thank you. i'd like to ideally use
this new version of enlightenment and gnome on a system that has redhat 6.2
installed already as well and just update the versions of enlightenment and
gnome to the newest ones. while the gnome install overrides the stock
install enlightenment does not, where is the configuration setting for gnome
session which specifies what verison of enlightenment to use? not all users
have .xinitrc and it doesn't appear to be in any of the x11/initrc.d/*
files. any ideas? is there a list of all the commands such as panel that i
can get to start up initially somewhere?
