When we created the packages for Red Hat Linux 7, we specifically
versioned them so that they would replace the Helix Code packages
built against Red Hat 6.2. Not because we hate Helix Code or want
to exert our dominance, but because:

 - there have been a lot of changes to the underlying, and we felt
more comfortable with packages built against RHL 7.
So, until Helix Code had a chance to built new packages, we
wanted to make sure our packages were installed.

 - we couldn't really do quality control if some of the core
packages came from Red Hat and others from Helix Code.

So, what you have is not really "Helix GNOME", it is "Red Hat GNOME
with a few remnants of Helix GNOME".

But GNOME-1.2 is still basically GNOME-1.2, so yes, it won't look
that different, and most likely add-on packages you download
from Helix Code will still work.

                                        Owen
