gmc renaming

Hey,
I'm trying to organize a large number
of files on my computer. Each file has
two versions: one with the first letter
capitalized, and the second in all lower
case. When trying to rename a file with
lowercase letters to one with capital letters,
gmc reports that they "are the same file."
I thought UNIX was supposed to be case
sensitive? How can I change this?
If this is the wrong list to post this
to, please let me know. Your prompt response
is appreciated.

Regards,
  cyberclay
