Probably in this case will help apply on first patch
http://cvs.pld.org.pl/SOURCES/xml-i18n-tools-merge_lines.patch?rev=1.2
to xml-i18n-tools. After this you must regenerate xml-i18n-tools files by
run xml-i18n-toolize --copy --force in gnome-vfs root tree, and run 
"aclocal -I macros; autoconf; automake -a -c" and now ./configure script.
