I am trying to get candidate information into an automatically generated
message on the http://digital-copyright.ca website. For many of the
parties I could extract the information from the party website.

The problem party has been the conservative party. Their website is
excessively non-standard and dependent on both JavaScript and proprietary
Macromedia Flash to navigate. There seemed to be no way to extract
information for the 308 ridings from their site so I asked if they could
send me a file listing their candidate URLs.

What I was sent is at:
http://www.digital-copyright.ca/files/conservative-websites.xls

  I can't open this file in either Gnumeric or OpenOffice.org. I don't
know what was used to generate the file, but this was one of the first
times I had a problem opening an XLS file in Gnumeric. I asked the person
who sent it to me if they could tell me what generated it and whether I
could get a save-as CSV, but received no reply.

  Any help appreciated.
