accessing widget property (newbie)

Hi,
I want change text in a label from another window( a window that isn't its parent);now, I tried GList and other stuff with
the gtk_container but i'm not able to find the correct way; now i change the property making the label global and it is ok,
but i think there's a more elegant way to get the goal.
