Re: [orca-list] any full time mate users?

It will be great to have magnification. I only use Orca but lot of people keep asking for magnification to try working with Ubuntu.

Hi,

That's because there's not yet a magnifier that we use Compiz for window
manager in Universally Accessible Sytem. Thus, we have MATE advantages
(including customization of layout), plus magnification features through
Compiz plugins. The only thing we don't handle fully as we'd like is the
focus tracking, but we're patching Compiz for this.

Hello,
Mate is a good alternative to Gnome. The only thing that stops it from
being fully accessible is that it has no magnifier fora low vision user.
Eitehr that or there is a magnifier, but its not as good as the one
built into Gnome.

The latest Orca works with MATE without any problems. I currently run
a fairly recent master branch version from git. The GTK2 libraries
that MATE is using still work with the latest Orca. It's true that
some of the older GNOME2 libraries no longer work, but they are not
being used by MATE.
