[orca-list] GNOME or MATE Desktop for Debian?

Hi folks,

I am currently installing Debian Stretch and love the fact that I can do 
so independently from a text console. The documentation is extensive and 
while I have chosen the default settings, to see what is taking place is 
fascinating. However, I am wondering about which desktop environment to 
go for. Should I be installing GNOME or MATE for the greatest level of 
accessibility with Orca/Speakup? Also is GTK3 part of MATE now?
