For some time now I really haven't had the time to devote to Planner that I'd like to, or that it really deserves.  Soon I'll be starting a new position which promises to be just as intense if not more so.  So at this point I think it only makes sense to put it out there and open up the maintainer position for someone else who'd like to give it a shot.

I won't bail out completely of course.  I still want to contribute as time allows, but I can't do it at the level of maintainer right now.

So if there's anyone out there who'd like to jump in the driver's seat, please let me know.

tnx!

Then both areas will shrink with the size of the overlap / 2, resulting in a minimum size of 3 for each when % complete is 100% (i.e. coincides with task end). The cursor is changed to GDK_HAND2 when over the area where you can start dragging %complete. Let me know what you think. Regards, Maurice. P.S.: Your software has already spared me a lot of MS-project-induced miser= y=20 now that my manager regularly asks me for gantt charts containing the proje= ct planning. Reasoning here is: if an interval in the gantt chart cannot be recognised as non-working when looking at the chart because it has a=20 white background, then not extending the task to include this interval looks like the task does not cover the entire day. Do you agree that this is how it should work? Sadly I am working on a WinXP box with Cygwin and GCC. I have notice many inconistencies in the "Build" documentation and with the code itself. I see one place that says just to run ./configure from the main directory yet there is no such file in the CVS tree. Another document says to run autogen.sh, in libplanner and then in the main directory, but there is no autogen.sh in libplanner directory and the one in the main directory just reports back a long list of "Program not found". So I descided to pull the Tar ball (1.4.0) and update it with the CVS and sure enough there is a configure program which I ran and it reports a long list of missing dependancies that are not listed in any of the documentation such as Scrollkeeper, DocBook XML and XSTLs etc. Kind of fustrating at this point, especially since Scrollkeeper source does not build on WinXP without crashing all the time. Once I got past all of these and fixed Scrollkeeper and after successfully running configure, I can build some things but I see that libplanner will not properly build due to invalid search paths for includes and libs always seeking someone elses home directly which seems somehow coded into the library, which of course I dont have. It is something like /home/mfawer/deve/lib and the like. I dont have it exactly there but you get the point. I tried to edit libplanner-1.la and libxml-1.la to fix this but it just keeps coming back. What is the deal? Also, why is there no documentation on what build options (such as the mono support, how to enable the database, and EDS (whatever that is), dotnet (whatever that is) etc? on the website? Thanks! In Planner development we don't use Microsoft Windows at all so I don't recommend you to try to use Windows as your development environment. In modern GNU/Linux distributions, like Ubuntu Dapper for example, you can install the development environment from packages directly and it should be easier for you to start developing. Apparently I forgot to send first version of this mail to list too... :) Good advice. It's really hard to devel under MS win, and needs _lot_ of experience. Much easier to setup some linux stuff to get going and then try it on windoze too.... I'm thinking to start to code again under windoze but It might take a while..... -- Jani Tiainen From arthur@petitpierre.org Tue Oct 24 10:11:25 2006 Return-Path: X-Original-To: planner-dev-list@gnome.org Delivered-To: planner-dev-list@gnome.org Received: from localhost (localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id F2E6F3B00DB for ; Tue, 24 Oct 2006 10:11:24 -0400 (EDT) Received: from menubar.gnome.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (menubar.gnome.org [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id 29907-09 for ; Tue, 24 Oct 2006 10:11:18 -0400 (EDT) Received: from 25.mail-out.ovh.net (25.mail-out.ovh.net [213.186.37.103]) by menubar.gnome.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id A789E3B011C for ; Tue, 24 Oct 2006 10:11:17 -0400 (EDT) Received: (qmail 20952 invoked by uid 503); 24 Oct 2006 12:58:50 -0000 Received: (QMFILT: 1.0); 24 Oct 2006 12:58:50 -0000 Received: from b6.ovh.net (HELO mail84.ha.ovh.net) (213.186.33.56) by 25.mail-out.ovh.net with SMTP; 24 Oct 2006 12:58:50 -0000 Received: from b0.ovh.net (HELO queue-out) (213.186.33.50) by b0.ovh.net with SMTP; 24 Oct 2006 14:11:08 -0000 Received: from cadmium.ccc.cea.fr (cadmium.ccc.cea.fr [132.165.91.102]) by ssl0.ovh.net (IMP) with HTTP for ; Tue, 24 Oct 2006 16:11:08 +0200 Message-ID: <1161699068.453e1efc981eb@ssl0.ovh.net> Date: Tue, 24 Oct 2006 16:11:08 +0200 From: arthur@petitpierre.org To: planner-dev-list@gnome.org Subject: Giving some help to maintain planner. As I have some free time, I would be glad if I could give some help to maintain planner. In order to see where the problems are and where I could help, I have started to do some bug triage. Here is the list of the bugs I have looked at and how their status could be updated. If I'm wrong or if you can give me some advices, don't hesitate. 0.14.x : * 357525 : tango icon, enhancement request. I have built planner with this new set of icons and attached a screenshot to the bugs. If someone wants to compare with the old one and integrate these icons, it's just a matter of copying them in data/images. Status : NEW Priority : Normal * 357528 : I have not tried to reproduce it, as I don't have evolution 2.8 installed yet. I'll try soon. * 358415 : cur_cal is passed to mop_get_next_mrp_ival without being initialized... adding cur_cal = NULL; seems to fix the problem. It's not blocking so severity should be set to critical. I have attached a path to the bug. Status : NEW Severity : Critical * 361669 : Gantt misalignement in html report. The reporter provided a one-line patch against data/stylesheets/html1_css.xsl. I have tested it and it seems to works well. Status : NEW Severity : Minor 0.14 : * 363323 : enhancement request for subprojects. Is someone interested or has time to implement this ? Status : NEW * 357191 : Has been closed in 0.14.1. Status : RESOLVED Resolution : FIXED * 356853 : duplicate of 357191, closed by 0.14.1. Status : RESOLVED Resolution : FIXED * 354992 : Resource assignement of multiple tasks at once. Status : NEW Severity : Enhancement * 353782 : Feature request to compare the actual completion of tasks and the planned target. Status : NEW * 353232 : planner files show as type plain text when selected in nautilus. Confirmed, as the user said, raising magic priority to 60 in data/mime/planner.xml.in fixed the problem. I attached a little patch to this bug. Status : NEW * 353221 : Network diagram view. I think it's a lot of work, but if someone wants to implement it, it's free software. Status : NEW * 353214 : Context menu entries disabled : I can't reproduce it. I'll send a mail to the user to know if it still happens, but i think nothing has been made in the code to change this behaviour since this issue has been reported. Status : NEEDINFO * 350103 : It seems to work on my machine, debian sid too, but a more recent package. Status : NEEDINFO * 348168 : duplicate of 357191, has been fixed in 0.14.1. Status : RESOLVED Resolution : FIXED * 345163 : internationalisation bug, use of ngettext is sometimes needed to handle plural forms. I have attached a patch to the bug but translations should also be updated. Status : NEW Let me know if this kind of work is useful, or if there are better things to do. If it is useful, I'll try to keep on cleaning the bugzilla, and as soon as I'll have enough knowledge about planner code base, I'll try to code improvements. Arthur Petitpierre.

I won't bail out completely of course.  I still want to contribute as time allows, but I can't do it at the level of maintainer right now.

So if there's anyone out there who'd like to jump in the driver's seat, please let me know.
