Hi Carmen,

I’m 90% sure the string is from the PAM project, which you can
translate at https://fedora.zanata.org/project/view/linux-pam

I'll see about translating that soon, when I'm back from FOSDEM.

Hope you have fun at FOSDEM!

I did, thank you!

Bit of a late update to this, but first a summary of the issue because
it has been a year already: On the GDM login screen, there's a dialog
that asks for your password, screenshot attached. The "Password:"
string (apparently) comes from linux-pam and cannot be translated using
DamnedLies.

So I translated (parts of) linux-pam, but linux-pam hasn't released a
new version for ages, if I can trust their GitHub releases page:

<https://github.com/linux-pam/linux-pam/releases>

So that didn't end up going anywhere. The translations haven't even
been pulled from Zanata to the repository, and Zanata is about to be
discontinued.

I've done a little researching into the issue to see if I can simply
submit a patch to GNOME myself, but it's a little too difficult for me.

It appears that GDM gets its "question" from PAM (i.e., the
"Password:"), and forwards the question to the gnome-shell GDM module,
which sets the question as the string of a GtkLabel. I do not know the
GDM codebase or the C language nearly well enough to submit a fix for
this.

What's the best course of action to get this fixed? I get a bit
discouraged from sending bug reports that go ignored for years, so I'd
like something actionable myself, but I'm a bit lost.

With kindness,
Carmen
