For most users they are plugins. Yes, you can launch as separate
windows, but they can be seen as plugins of the desktop. If you do not
use GNOME, you will do few things with them. :]

They are not translated due lack of local term or due "barbarismos"
(use the foreign word without traslation or minimal adaptation, ie
cederron was approved by our languaje academy as word for CDROM) and
both cases wrong (at least if the insist in preserving culture, but I
disgress). Anyway, if you want contribute to the English pool of weird
words, go ahead. /me runs

Documentation? I think we agreed people do not read that. Otherwise
most of our problems will not exist.

Yes, it will be confusing. "Launch an applet" "Which applet? This menu
or the other menu... or the things in this dir"

[Mini | Panel] [Application | Program | Accessories] sound very fine
to me. I do not see any big reason to invent, but the contrary: users
will not have to learn more things. Calum's view, more or less.

Can you explain me why Gizmo suits? I had to search it, and is marked
as an US word with ** ("use with lot care", just between * "relaxed
situations" and *** "offensive"). In Spanish "cachivache" (sounds as
junkyard item) or "artilugio" (mad scientist), not very serious, IMHO.

Miniprograma, five syllables (three in English? I think they are four,
but I am not native), and Spanish is one of those languajes that take
a lot of space (more if we have to fall back to full phrases). Now
think Miniapp... it it not Miniapp, it is Miniapplication, you are
only cheating yourself (English is small, and fond of abbrevs and
TLAs, AFLAs, it seems). What is more, IIRC "GUI with abbrevs and TLAs
are a bad thing" (R) (TM) ;P

So please consider Calum's idea, for me it is one of the best, the
rest are just rare names for the fun of it.
