IIRC Mac does not use fast access, and Motif (NS, at least) enters
"menu mode" with F10 (then you have to use arrows, which is slow,
instead of hitting some letters). The mess appeared with Windows, I
believe, where they wanted direct keys (Ctrl) and menu keys (Alt).
