This one's bogus to me. What's wrong with changing one at a time?
Treble and bass controls on a stereo are related, but no one needs or
wants an apply button there.

In this case it doesn't really matter until you try to get mail, but
it could be handled similarly to the way I described for filtering
rules in my recent reply to Colin.
