Thanks Calum, this is really good background info. :)  

It's made me personally view the cancel on the left issue in a bit more
of a friendly way.  I think my only major issue with it still is that my
mouse cursor usually hangs around on the left hand side of the screen,
and having to go farther to the right to get to the "ok" button is
annoying  (takes more time, and causes more wrist stress).  I'll just
have to get in the habit of using the keyboard to navigate them.
