I think the short answer is "both". I can't think of a sensible action
when you double click a font (except maybe to install it if its not
already installed? the font "viewer" could potentially have a button for
this too?) other than to display information about it. On the other
hand, it definitely makes sense to have info like this about the font in
the properties dialogue.
