Well, this is true, but: 
        * for me, now, is more simple to use image + 2 buttons now: just
          move a couple of widgets :-)
        * the current icon selector is wrong :-( there are no way to
          remove a custom icon and no way to just select a theme-icon

        * nautilus don't use only simple icons, but image/movie/...
          preview too

I don't know, personally I feel fine. Yeah, this is a replication,
'cause you can look at checkboxes, but to know the current status the
text and/or number view is the simplest way: sometime is more simple
read the numeric value, sometime the symbolic one

TIU, again ;-) Yeah, it's the last time the file permissions were
changed, and is an important file info (in UN*X environment), as well as
last accessed and last modified (atime, ctime and mtime) 

The really "superfluous" widget are Special Flags checkboxes: you don't
need so much for files in $HOME. Just using nautilus as root you can
need it. Fortunately you can hide via gconf: probably we can turn off by
default, isn't it?
