yeah but these aren't buttons, they are menus, and I find that the icons
really do amount to unneeded visual noise.

With my stock, pretty much uncustomized version of winXP no apps have
menu icons (outlook,internet explorer, acrobat), with the exception of
the favorites icons in IE.
