See, the thing is, that in our world (which one could argue is more than
ideal, because it actually exists), we don't have desks and filing cabinets
sitting at the side of the street waiting for us to deposit our mail. Which
is rather fortunate, all things considered.

Having file management access to mail folders makes for a great secondary
interface, for backup, alternative retrieval methods, etc. But sticking
everything into the file manager is not a usability panacea. It won't make
the interface any more relevant, recognisable, or sensible. Trying to fit
everything into a file manager has similar problems to sticking everything
into a web page. Handy, but it's not going to fix much.

Please, let's concentrate on making the application as good as it can be,
without getting into wishy-washy discussions about irrelevant paradigm
shifting.
