I assume patches for that won't be accepted before 2.4 - is this a new
*feature* or considered a bug fix? There are two old bugzilla entry that
name this issue [1], [2]. When do we have a chance to get this
integrated? In my opinion, this falls into the UI polish category and
could be integrated into 2.3.x/2.4.0.
I've taken a look at the source code and all it looks like all we have
to do is separate out a code block from show_item_menu in
gnome-panel/menu.c, and add a new callback / signal connect / response
function for the menu so I could easily write a patch if desired.

[2] suggests to remove the entire right-clicking stuff - I think the
current situation is - although of not satisfying me - the best
solution.
