I've considered this when designing the next backend for Medusa.  When
the metadata repository and indexer are reliable, it will contain all
the data the RB manages and then some.  A single query to the metadata-
daemon will return the same data that RB stores in XML.  The data set
could easily show all music as being in the library without the user
manually adding it.  I believe RB will be mount point aware soon, and
that information will also exist in the metadata repository, so RB could
show the offline content as greyed out.
