The left and right provide an easy single key stroke move to basically
get a window out of the way.  The left/right items are not really there
for arranging windows on workspaces, just quickly moving them.  The sub-
menu is meant for landing windows on the correct workspace as an
organizational task.

I don't think that removing these items is simplifying in a better way,
actually I think it's removing functionality without leaving a better
way to achieve the end user goal.  And I don't see your argument that
removing these items is enhancing the attractiveness of the menus.

I can see you point if you argued for a better way than (Right | Left)
to quickly move windows out of the way, but just removing it without
improving or at least retaining the interaction-flow doesn't seem
correct to me.
