Defaultness :
Gentoo is fairly unpatched. The default in the session manager is
changed from prompting to just dropping you off (default option) and a
custom splash is installed, I think that covers it.

Worth noting is that Gentoo hasn't moved Gnome 2.8 into the stable tree
yet, so the default is 2.6.x

( 2.8 was held up due to other system bugs, and the rather .. erm.
unstable situation with HAL :-/ )

Installation :
(plug plug plug)
http://chinstrap.alternating.net/

Put the BINHOST for 2004.2 into your make.conf, And use "emerge -gk"
instead of normal emerge, using a default stage3 Gentoo install
(recommended) with default settings, it cuts your install time down to
the time it takes you to configure and build a kernel, + IO overhead
(unpacking tarballs and downloading)
