You could accomplish having a sidebar for spatial with what should be
a rather simple change to navigational.  Right now the spatial
nautilus is integrated nicely with the navigational mode (Open in
Browser), but right now theres no way to do the reverse from the tree
view or anywhere else in the browser.  If you could get a similar
option in Navigational mode to spatial's, you could have a browser
window open with just the sidebar showing, and use spatial exclusively
for viewing folders.

There would still be the issue of not being able to get a new tree
from a specific directory, but it would be better than the status quo
where the browser has no links to spatial at all.
