[Usability] multiple entries in "open with" menu and more...

I am pondering if there is any legitimate reason behind adding application
name entries to "open with" submenu in right click menu in a manner like
this. I do as follows : normal click on movie file - mplayer launches. This
does not have set option "-stop-xscreensaver" (this module is buggy IMO,
that's why), so I right click on (large) movie file and "open with" ->
"open with other application" and set "mplayer -fs -stop-xscreensaver".
Next I want for example only "-fs" option for certain files, and thus
reiterate last procedure. What I end with is 2 indifferent menu objects
called "mplayer". And I have no idea (from the usability stand point) which
one does what (since the options, while fully functional, are not visible
at all).
Next example of such behavior is when I want to open _some_ text files
(notably the small ones, requiring minuscule editing) with sth. like:

urxvt -sr -sl 10000 -fn 9x15bold -e pico

the resulting entry in "open with" menu shows only "urxvt" which is not
very informative, actually it's misleading. I perceive this behavior
somewhat not elegant, to say the least, not that I don't remember what does
"urxvt" stands there for :) . This 2 points clearly portray the problem, as
dealing with one (showing options for mplayer like "-fs") exacerbate the
other (how to deal then with long option sets).
The good start, and probably the easiest, would be to place in a menu
name of application that is actually being started in terminal, not the
terminal name itself (provided terminal launches some other application at
all). This piece of code would only to search for terminal name followed by
the "-e" option (dunno what other ways of starting an app. from different
terminals are, if any).

kind regards
tj
