For the HIG workshop, there are probably two strands of work we can tackle:

* Start drafting up some concrete design patterns for the UI pattern library we want to get off the ground

* Decide what needs to go in the pattern library's companion document, which, if we decide we still need one at all, will probably be some kind of "HIG Lite" (compared to the current HIG)

See the section "HIG for 3.x" at <http://live.gnome.org/UsabilityProject/HIG> for more details. Preparatory work would mostly involve familiarising yourself with the notion of a 'UI design pattern', the initial list of things we may wish to turn into GNOME 3.x design patterns, and the pattern template that we're planning to use, all of which you can find there.

We also need to decide exactly what format the library itself will take -- wiki, custom website, Mallard doc? -- but I'm not sure that's necessarily something we could or should decide at the workshop. Although if Shaun's going to be there, it may come up :)

Cheeri,
Calum.
