Working on design won't be a big problem. We will ask Novell Designer
who has made floor plan for us. If we have budget then only we will go
ahead with printing. If we don't have budget then use stickers.

When i asked vendor, it looked costly to me, he quoted 35 cents per
badge.

The badges include a lanyard? or just a pin?

How about we give badges to only speakers and volunteers / working groups / MCs / exhibitors, like this, we can budget 35 cents x 100 badges is enough :-)
While for particpants, we give away stickers.

It can be done even during hackfest if we want.

Otherwise, we are okay to use stickers (just buy some white stickers)
and give white stickers to every participants to just write our names
on the stickers :-)

We are planning to print them soon. Long back we thought of having
different badges for speakers, volunteers, students and delegates. I
think we can keep design same and just change the color and title of
badge as per category.

I am attaching foss.in 2010 badge just for the reference though picture
quality is not good. But i think it's enough for reference. We can have
logo and name both at one side like we had in last gnome.asia.
