Hi --

You will not be able to get that version to compile if you have up-to-date GTK
--- you need 0.4.9 which is located at:
ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/balsa/balsa-0.4.9.tar.gz

I will forward you over some of the more specific instructions for compiling
that surfaced on the list last week or so.
