Well, if you're using mbox style folders (usual default), the easiest way
would be to find your trash file (if you didn't create it yourself it will
be in ~/balsa/Trash) and type something like:
$ cd ~/balsa
$ mv Trash trash-apr-2000
$ gzip trash-apr-2000
$ touch Trash
This should get you what you want, although you might want to use "gzip -9
<file>" to get better compression (48 MB is pretty big). If you're using MH
or Maildir folders you'll have to use tar and gzip, since they consist of a
directory full of message files.
