To the Balsa Team:
I am a college student majoring in Computer Science at Hamilton College, with
an interest in Linux and the Open-Source movement. I was recently selected to
receive a grant to do research over the summer in the field of Computer
Science. As
my research project, I wish to implement encryption in an open-source email
client. I recently discovered Balsa and, after using both the current
pre-release
and other, older versions, decided that Balsa was exactly the type of project
I
would like to work with.
With the permission of the team, I would like to join the Balsa project and,
working with a public encryption system such as PGP, implement within the
Balsa
program a secure mail feature. This would allow the user to send email in
encrypted form, as well as providing methods of ensuring that the user did not
compromise the email's security by leaving data on the clipboard or leaving
secure mail
unencrypted on disk.
I think that Balsa is a great program and I would like to work with you to
make
it into an even better one.
Sincerely,
Peter A. Kimball
