mutt and GUIs

Hello,

I'm in the beginning stages of a project that involves porting mutt to
GTK+.  I noticed the libmutt directory in your source distribution
with in it and assumed you guys did something similar.  Is this in
fact the case?  If so, can you offer any advice on a project like
this?  Potential pitfalls?  Sweet hacks?  Will this take me two weeks
or two years?  Thanks in advance.
