I am sorry it hasn't been documented yet. When the respective POP3
'mailbox' has the 'filter' box checked, the downloaded mail is passed on
to procmail which will use ~/.procmailrc file as its configuration, so
you can share it between balsa and fetchmail and get consistent behavior
no matter you use balsa or fetchamil for downloading.
Simple example ~/.procmailrc file:
--------- cut here ----------------
:0H:
* ^Subject:.*balsa
mail/balsa-related-mail
--------- cut here ----------------
It is recommended to read procmail(1) and procmailrc(1) for more
real-life examples and syntax explanation.
There is no finished GUI for editing ~/.procmailrc and patches are
welcome to alter this (since I have targets with higher priority on my
TODO list).

PS. concerning GtkText, yes this is default behavior of this widget. I am
not aware of any plans to rewrite it for balsa. We will most likely
switch to GtkTkText as soon as it becomes mainstream - and that widget is
supposed to be muchmore user-friendly.
