afaik you have to set 01777 vor mail but you can try setting

cd /
chmod 1777 var

cd /var
chmod 1777 spool

cd /var/spool               afaik only this dir
chmod 1777 mail       <--- needs to be set "mail"

please make sure that the file "rebus" has the
privileges of the user that belongs it too.

chown rebus.users rebus
chmod 600 rebus
