automake 1.4 & autoconf 2.50

hi!

i switched to a new automake and autoconf today and now
encounter configure problems. i would appreciate if you
guys could review the configure.in scripts and make it
compatible to this version.

i already did a complete update and tried to get
configure.in reconfigured from scratch but that wasnt
really helpfull.

any comments ideas etc ? did anyone get it configured
with the new versions already ?
