Ok, I figured a simple workaround: Prior to the ./configure, do
(bash/ksh):
LIBS="-lstdc++"
export LIBS
(No C shell syntax this time, go get a real shell with proper parsing
instead.)
I've tuned the RPM options and compiled balsa 1.2.2 for SuSE Linux 7.3
(may also work on 7.2 and 7.1, untested, feedback is sought). My RPM
expects PCRE, SSL, GTKHTML, gppshare.rpm and goes without libESMTP. SuSE
install an MTA anyways, so that's fine. The RPM installs into /opt/gnome
as SuSE do. Of course, the RPM (as any other you may find at that site)
comes without and express or implied warranties, if it eats your disk,
bad luck.
My .spec file is based on Pawel's, not on SuSE's (from Balsa 1.1.7).
The RPMs (source, and i486 although it's labeled i386) are available
from http://mandree.home.pages.de/suse-7.3-i386.de/ -- the balsa RPMs
are signed with my PGP key 0xc58fd886 which is available from key
servers all around the world (gpg --recv-keys 0xc58fd886).
Should anything be wrong (missing dependencies or the like) which is
fine with an install from source, let me know.
Have fun!
